Disciples with Special Needs

The Disciples with Special Needs (DSN) group was formed to reach out to special needs adults in our community. The group’s goals include: providing opportunity for fellowship and service, providing respite time for caregivers, and promoting awareness and involvement within the community. DSN meets monthly, alternating between a social event and a service project. The group was formed in September 2006 and has grown steadily in numbers every month.

Current DWSN upcoming events:

On SEPTEMBER 18, 2009 we will meet in LCR’s parking lot and car pool to Aid For Friends to cook and pack meals for shut-ins served by the Aid For Friends organization.Everyone is asked to bring 1-2 cans of vegetables to donate.

ON OCTOBER 30, 2009 LCR will host a Halloween party for the DWSN group. The fun begins at 6:00 p.m. with a dinner consisting of ALL ORANGE FOOD, followed by an evening of games, crafts, food and fun. All are invited to come in costume!

Plans for November include a service project when we will be making Christmas Cards to be sent to military personnel along with a box of candy.

This special ministry provides fun, fellowship and service opportunities to special needs adults within our community. We are always happy to welcome others to our group.

Please invite special needs adults in the community, and consider joining us as a chaperone. For additional information, please contact:Berni Beury, Kara Beardsell, Kim May, Pastor Sharon Taylor or Diane Casey.

Sponsorship:

DWSN is sponsored by LCR’s Parish Nursing Team, which subsidizes the budget to keep costs to participate minimal. Caregivers and parentsare welcome at all events, or they can drop off the disciple and return, giving them a couple of free hours.
